How to Earn Passive Income From Niche Sites

With careful SEO planning, a niche website is far more likely to make the number one spot in Google, while a website built around an overly competitive niche may never even see the light of day.

In case you haven’t noticed, the Internet has become totally saturated with people trying to make money from niche sites, which makes it harder to find doable keywords and profitable ideas for a new site. If you pick topics with too much competition, you won’t get any traffic. Creating small niche sites is the best way to overcome this obstacle and make money faster online.

I have several niche sites that earn me passive income year round. I did spend a lot of time on each site in the beginning, but now I rarely work on them, yet they still earn money on autopilot.

Here’s how to make money building small static niche sites without any HTML or programming skills…

1. Set goals. If you want to make money doing this you will need to set goals and understand that earning money from niche sites requires work now so you can reap the benefits later. You can make thousands of dollars monthly from multiple niche sites, but just one small niche site won’t make much money.

Making money from niche sites does require a lot of time and effort before you earn any money at all. If you are impatient and need to make money online quickly, you should check out Project Payday. Go there and fill in the small sign up box near the bottom of the page to get started making money fast. It’s free and great for newbies because you don’t have to mess around with setting up a website.

In my opinion, building static niche websites, instead of blogs, is the way to go. Some people think that blogs make more money than a website but that’s definitely not true because I have a couple niche blogs and my niche websites make more money. Blogs are not bad, but they require constant updating and you must keep up with comments from visitors. If you have 10 or more blogs this can turn into an annoying task.

2. Get your website builder. DreamWeaver is the best but it’s very expensive and there’s a steep learning curve. I use the XsitePro web design software to build all my niche websites. XsitePro does everything DreamWeaver can do and it costs less than half the price. Like DreamWeaver, XsitePro also has really professional templates to choose from and there is no learning curve or HTML skills required to build your site. XsitePro is also awesome for making Adsense niche sites. You can place Adsense anywhere on your site with a couple mouse clicks.

3. Brainstorm ideas. If possible, it is always best to make a niche site about something you’re passionate about so you will enjoy writing articles and promoting your content on the Web. Write down some ideas of interest.

4. Find overlooked in-demand keywords. Keywords with 1,900 or less monthly searches are best because these often have less competition. Even keywords with only 880 monthly searches are doable for a small niche site. Type the keyword into Google in quotes to reveal the number of competing sites. Try to find keywords with less than 30,000 competing sites. The more competing sites there are, the harder it will be to get any Web traffic.

5. Buy your hosting and choose a domain. Make your domain name the same as your main niche site keyword if possible. This has a huge SEO advantage and your site will get found much easier.

6. Start writing useful articles for your niche site, using your main keyword and related keywords. Use header tags in your articles. If you are using XsitePro, you will be able to write meta descriptions for every Web page that will help your site a lot with SEO. You will want to write at least 20 or more articles. The more content you write, the more traffic you will get and you will start getting found by random long-tail keywords that you’re not even targeting on purpose.

7. Start marketing your niche site content online. Submit articles to article directories. Drop links on social bookmarking sites and leave useful comments in blogs related to your niche. There are a million things you can do to backlink and market your new site. It is definitely boring but also necessary if you want to send Web traffic to your site and make money.

8. Once your static niche website starts to get search engine traffic every day, it’s time to monetize the web pages. The easiest way to earn passive income from your niche site is to implement Adsense, but don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

Tips & Warnings

Earning passive income online from static niche websites is definitely not a fast way to make money. There will be times in the beginning where it seems like a waste of time, because the earnings are slow, but with hard work, your sites will start to get daily traffic and make money.

  1. Great post about niche sites. I am in the process of making a few niches sites and the part that I enjoy the most is the keyword research. This is also the most important part of building niche sites. I find the process fun but I have heard that alot of people outsource their content creation which is something that I am just not comfortable with doing at this point.

  2. Thanks Donna. You are right, keyword research is very important. It is my least favorite part of the whole process, because it takes an incredible amount of time, but it does pay off if you plan your keywords wisely from the start. I have never outsourced my content either and I agree with you that I’m also a little uncomfortable hiring a virtual assistant. I may consider it in the future for niche site content. Stop by again, let me know how your niche sites are going.
