PeopleString Scam: Is It Real Or A Waste of Time?
In my opinion, PeopleString is a waste of time. Is PeopleString a scam? Not really, but it’s definitely a waste of time. I tried it about 2 years ago and so maybe things are different now, as far as the earning potential goes, but I will share my own experience here so you can make an informed decision.
Although I really doubt it, there could very well be some members earning hundreds of dollars every month on PeopleString, so this article is only based on my opinion and my experience using the site.
PeopleString is a growing social network often compared to Facebook for its similar social sharing features and profile layout. The site claims to offer ways to make money “doing the things you’re already doing”, but at the end of the day, PeopleString earnings largely depend on bringing in new referrals and helping those referrals make money so you can earn a share of their earnings. This is basically MLM (multi-level marketing), but the site is considered a social network.
PeopleString Scam?
No, it’s not a scam. PeopleString is owned and operated by a legitimate corporation which does provide ways for members to earn money (very little though) using the site. The site offers both a free and paid membership. The paid membership costs a whopping $200 and comes with greater percentages for referral commissions. Save your $200.
The free version does not require you to enter your credit card number or participate in a free trial period. I don’t recommend this site at all, but if you must use it, sign up for the free account.
PeopleString Earnings
I made around $10 or so from PeopleString. They bring a lot of hype about making money from home using their site, but the earnings are very small in reality. After you sign up, there is an area in your profile where you can take surveys or paid trial offers. This is no different than any other paid survey site and the earnings are pretty crappy.
After signing up, you will be asked to complete a short survey, then you will receive a PeopleString post card in the mail (mine arrived 1 month later) where you will need to enter the code on the back of the card into your account to receive a small payment which if I remember correctly was under $1. I don’t know if they still do that or not.
PeopleString Referrals
This is the main method used to make money from PeopleString, because the other money-making methods advertised on the site are extremely low-paid and pretty much a waste of time. They also share advertising revenue with members but it’s extremely low when it pays out.
PeopleString pays $.50 per referral and also varying percentages on whatever your referrals earn from their referrals. The problem I found was that even after getting referrals, most of them ended up being inactive, so I was unable to earn any money beyond the $.50.
Since PeopleString earnings largely rely on accumulating a large base of referrals, you will find yourself constantly promoting it, even before you are making money, which is dishonest and annoying to others. If you look around the Web, you will find endless articles and videos from eager affiliates promoting PeopleString and how great it is.
Conclusion
Sites where earnings are driven purely by referral programs is nothing new, as there are so many sites that use this same business model, which makes it practically impossible to get an honest review (like this one) about the site. The people who paid the $200 are desperately seeking referrals in hopes of covering the costs of the membership.
Overall, I found that PeopleString took an incredible amount of promotional effort for very little rewards in return, except for a measly $.50. I also have a problem desperately referring people to a site that I don’t find useful or valuable myself. Time is better spent making money from Adsense and your own blog.
