Suite 101 Scam Or Legit Site For Freelance Writing?
Suite101 is one of many revenue-sharing sites on the Web for freelance writing. The site was around even before eHow and it’s a decent place for freelance writers to post well-written articles and earn passive income from advertising revenue in return. Suite 101 earning potential isn’t what it used to be, due to the Google updates and changes earlier this year.
Prior to the last major Google update, I was earning over $100 every month from my articles on Suite101. My earnings had been climbing every month, but soon after the update, my earnings tanked. I still make money from the site and I haven’t produced any content there for a long time.
My last payment was $24.52 and my next payment will exceed this amount a little. While that isn’t a lot of money, it’s pretty cool to earn money from a site that I don’t even use anymore.
Is Suite101 a scam? No, definitely not. The site is used by experienced freelance writers and beginners. Writers use the site for different reasons. Some writers use it purely to earn extra money writing online, while others use it to mostly as a way to showcase their best articles and build a reputation for themselves on the Internet.
Prior to the Google changes, Suite101 had been a little passive about the quality of writing going live on the site, but now articles must adhere to strict editorial guidelines and articles also pass through an editor. If an editor requests several changes, the article is taken offline until the changes are finalized and approved. Like HubPages, they are also beginning to assign each writer with their own unique subdomain.
The earning potential on Suite101 isn’t the greatest, although it could be getting better as the site changes its quality control policies and editorial standards. Don’t expect reliable income or instant earnings after writing a few articles. In order to earn steady income writing there, you need to produce hundreds of search engine optimized articles on a consistent basis. Earnings on Suite101 are generated from shared advertisement revenue.
Suite101 is not transparent about how exactly earnings are calculated, as far as actual percentages, which has raised controversy among curious freelance writers. However, Suite101 is a legit site where freelance writers can earn a little extra money writing and share their content with the world.
I like the dashboard layout on Suite101 because it displays daily page views and revenue in a graph. The tracking makes it easy to monitor article performance. After you write 100 articles, you will receive an additional 10% for article earnings. The site pays via PayPal after you earn at least $10. If you need help, their forum is massive with plenty of useful advice from fellow freelance writers.
In order to freelance write for Suite101 you have to apply through their website. I’m not sure about the chances of getting approved these days, but in the past, I think it was a little less strict.
