Vindale Research Scam? Let’s Take A Look

Is a Vindale Research scam real? Maybe. The bottom line is you might want to think twice before joining.

I looked up Vindale Research on the website for the Better Business Bureau and it shows an “F” rating. The BBB is not the greatest source, but regardless, Vindale does have a terrible rating and several reported complaints.

Here is another bit of information taken from the BBB site:

“Consumers report to the BBB that they complete surveys for this company but they do not get paid accordingly.”

Nice. Sounds like a great paid survey site. Even if the site is legit, would you feel comfortable taking surveys there? It looks like the company also operates under different names including Paid Samples and Survey 4 Profit, who by the way, also happens to be known for not paying.

So what is Vindale Research exactly? According to their website, they are an Internet firm specializing in the evaluation of online products and services.

The company stands out from the crowd because some of their surveys, or ‘studies’ as they call them, pay more than the average survey online. Some of their surveys pay $15 and up, but the majority of these surveys are not really surveys, but instead trial offers, which explains the higher payouts.

This means that in order to earn that $50 payout you want so badly, you must participate in a trial offer, which in many cases, requires a credit card and even shipping and handling fees because the company will have to mail their product to your home so you can ‘evaluate’ the product and get paid (hopefully).

Now you are held responsible for canceling the trial before it expires, to avoid nasty charges. Sometimes companies will even require you to return a portion of unwanted products in the mail, which ends up incurring more shipping costs.

So basically, Vindale Research makes all the money and then provides you with a commission IF you go through everything I just explained in the paragraph above. The site claims that you will earn back most, if not all, of the associated costs, but there are no guarantees that you will even get paid in the first place.

There are many sites operating this way and while it’s technically legal, it is also deceptive and not a good way for you to make money online. The biggest risk is that you are put in a position where the company could easily say “sorry you didn’t complete the offer properly, so we’re not going to pay you”.

So is a Vindale Research scam true? I’m leaning towards a yes. Yes, because there are many survey takers reporting that they were never paid. That is my biggest concern. I also consider it a scam because some of the surveys are disguised as trial offers, which I find misleading. People sign up thinking they’re going to take surveys to make money when they’re really filling out trial offers that cost money.

There are available “profile studies” on the site that pay $.10 to $1.50 each and some people report that they were able to successfully complete those surveys and get paid, but at this point, why take the risk of not getting paid for surveys? There are so many better survey sites to use where you won’t have to worry about getting screwed over.

Another major downside to Vindale Research is that they don’t pay until you have earned at least $50. They claim to pay by check. That is if you even get paid at all. I think it’s fair to say that it’s a bad place to sign up and take paid online surveys. Look elsewhere.
