Work for Google From Home: Beware of Scams

Google is the most widely used search engine in the world and a household name. Unfortunately, there are scam artists using the trusted Google brand as a way to lure uninformed people into fake work for Google from home scams that have nothing to do with Google at all. In 2009, Google launched a legal battle against several people advertising work for Google from home opportunities on the Internet, according to ABC news.

Can you really work for Google from home?

Yes. Occasionally Google will hire temporary workers called “quality raters”,  to work from home refining Google search results. Not everyone will quality for these jobs. To qualify for such a job, you must be a United States citizen with a BA/BS degree or equivalent experience, have a high speed Internet connection and possess web research and analytical capabilities.

Temporary work from home Google jobs, such as a quality rater job, pay about $15 per hour and you must work between 10-12 hours per week. This Google work at home job involves closely analyzing ads, images, web pages, text and reporting your findings to Google. Temporary work at home Google jobs are available through Google’s sponsored job agency WorkForceLogic, so you are not a direct Google employee. This is, however, a legitimate work from home Google job.

It is also possible to work at home using the Google Adsense program, but it’s not a job, even though you will need to treat it like one if you want to make reliable monthly income from it. Making money from Adsense takes a lot of time and work before you earn any money, but it is possible to earn a full time living from Adsense.

Work for Google At Home Scams

These are easy to spot and often include terms like “Work for Google from Home Posting Links” in the ad copy, or something along those lines. Most of these program sell “kits” promising hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars per day.

Some of these fake Google products are being sold for as much as $150 or more and they use the trademarked Google logo to trick people into thinking the company endorses the product. Google does not endorse any of them and they are actively working with the Federal Trade Commission to shut them down. If you have been scammed by such a program, report it to the FTC.

The most notable Google work from home scams on the Web include the “Google Cash Kit”, “Google Money Master”, “Easy Google Profit” and “Google Fortune Kit” to name a few. Not only do these scams use the Google name in their ad copy, but many times they will also use the names of top news companies like ABC and MSNBC to make the product appear genuine and trustworthy.

Working for Google from Home Reality

It is possible to work from home using the Google search engine, Adsense, or from the temporary jobs that Google occasionally provides through WorkForceLogic, but the paid kits and programs advertised on the Internet are fake and should be avoided at all costs. In general, working from home is not all that easy, but there are real employers who pay people to work at home.
